Principal’s Message
Hello Mighty Hawk Parents,
I am sure that you are as excited as I am about your child’s education at Harlingen South. We are excited to announce that we will soon be distributing electronic devices to students for them to use for their classes throughout the school year. Starting September 9th, Harlingen South will issue individual devices to students through our library. The purpose of distributing these devices is for kids to have access to their canvas course material at any time and the ability to study after school hours.
Before September 9th, we need all of our students and parents to prepare for the device distribution. You can prepare by doing two things. First, make sure you sign the device agreement form; you can access the form by clicking this link. Second, ensure your child knows their Canvas username and password; without this, they will be unable to access their device. Students can visit the library before school or during lunch this week to get their Canvas account username and password.
During the entire week of September 9th, students will be able to check out their devices from the library in the mornings from 7:30 to 8:10 a.m. Morning checkout will be on a first-come, first-served basis. We will also check out devices during all lunch periods the same week of September the 9th.
We will ask students to visit the library sometime during their lunch period to check out their devices. Our campus will check out these devices according to their last names according to the following schedule.
Monday during lunch, last names A – E
Tuesday during lunch, last names F – J
Wednesday during lunch, last names K – O
Thursday during lunch, last names P – T
Friday during lunch, last names U – Z
We want your child to have a seamless device checkout; please ensure they complete the two items mentioned in the second paragraph before device checkout week. Also, as soon as your students have their devices checked out, please ensure that they charge them every evening and bring them to school daily. Your support in transitioning to a one-to-one environment is crucial to their success.
Regards,
Fernando Reyes
